…i was completely speechless as i saw those amazing works by KYLE BEAN….enjoy the latest works from this artist: he brings a new perspective to everyday objects.
‘Soft Guerilla” is a series of weapons made out of non harming materials for a feature article centred around the topic of ‘Guerilla Gardening’ and ‘Yarn Bombing’ in the german magazine CUT MAGAZINE (the magazine is absolut fantastic !!!) . all photos are from the photographer Sam Hofman.
about KYLE BEAN:
a Brighton based designer specialising in hand crafted models, set design and art direction. Since graduating in 2009 he worked across a variety of platforms including installations, window displays, editorial and advertising.
in his own words…:
I was recently commissioned to work on a lovely and pleasingly odd project for CUT magazine in Germany. The feature article of the latest issue focusses on the topic of Guerilla gardening and yarn bombing. As a nod to Guerilla warfare I created a series of harmless weapons from various materials (some of which are edible). A jelly grenade, a feather blade knife, bread knuckle dusters; I created a total of 6 weapon models as well as my own take on the iconic Che Guevara image for the opener. I worked with the very talented Sam Hofman who shot them for me. Take a look at my portfolio page to see the project.

the “haus der kulturen der welt” in berlin is well know for an extraordinary program…but with the selection for the worldtronic festival 11 the team of detlef diedrichsen surprised me : if you are into electronic music…..check this out….: as the HDKW has always a good nose for upcoming new trends and artist….it`s a must see for me…i personally would recommend the evening with SOOM T (bizarre ragga – 8 bit electronica) and the energetic duo SUPER GUACHIN from argentina:

……to get an idea check out : BOOM SHIVA from Soom T.

The future of electronic music always takes place in the here and now. The latest and most radical developments determine the sub-genres of tomorrow. Yet the new cannot make do without the old. The styles and technologies of yesteryear are cited in the present and stimulate the development of new genres. With the result, sometimes, that the new – while sounding fresh and unheard of – can have a strangely familiar ring to it.
Heavily influenced by Indian music from the 1950s, along with Bhangra, Hip-Hop and 1980s pop, Soom T sings and plays 8-Bit digital Reggae. In addition, she has lent her voice to productions by countless artists, including The Orb, T.Raumschmiere, Bus, Asian Dub Foundation and many others.

GRAFT Architects – Distinct Ambiguity
23.11.2011 – 12.02.2012
Haus am Waldsee / Argentinische Alle 30 / D-14163 Berlin
The emerging team with offices in Berlin, Los Angeles and Beijing creates architectural hybrids which take up current cultures of taste and debates on method and reflect on political as well as aesthetic issues. What appears to be contradictory is reassembled in new and surprising ways. GRAFT are particularly receptive to future realities, in fact more so than most comparable architectural firms operating today. GRAFT see themselves as a global think tank for design strategies as well as a laboratory for the cultivation of future cultures. They make use of unusually open design practices, distilling inspiration from all spheres of life.

We love this awesome lamps made from salvaged material…..a complete new approach to lightning…..
here is the concept from LUKE KELLY : “I decided there is way too much cool old lighting out there left lonely and nonfunctional in cardboard boxes and street corners and so I must take it upon myself to give new life to what I can. Here is the first of my new line of salvaged wood lamps. I recently came upon a nice bunch of salvaged hardwood decking material and after nights of tinkering this lamp design was born.”
seen first at: lost at e minor
Made of four pieces of gorgeously weathered hardwood and a length of natural jute fiber rope she stands about 11″ high, 3.5″ wide, and 14″ from the back two feet to the front. The main body
lovingly cradles a 30 watt Edison style bulb (included!) seated in a vintage porcelain lamp socket. The lamp plugs in to a standard outlet with the attached 8 foot lamp cord with inline switch.
When lit this lamp glows a beautiful amber orange, which when paired with the weathered grays of the wood makes for a really nice glow that will complement any room in your house.
I have added the silvered stripe design by hand to add a bit of character – since I make every lamp to order I will happily do custom designs or colors or lettering if you so choose! Please message me with any questions or requests, custom work will be about $15 extra.
Every one of these lamps will be carefully handmade by me and so no two will be the same! I only have so much of this great weathered wood to work with so there will only be a limited number of these made. Thanks for looking : )
ALL PICTURES FROM LUKE KELLY : THANKS ! CHECK OUT HIS PROFILE ON

… enjoy the bold and airy , bigger than life installations ……: Tomás Saraceno’s installations shatter traditional concepts relating to place, time, gravity and traditional ideas as to what constitutes architecture. His works are utopian and invite the viewer to play a part in their impact on a particular space, as they reach up to the sky and down to the ground. The artist creates gardens that hang in the air and allow visitors to float in space, fulfilling a dream shared by all humankind. Saraceno draws inspiration from soap bubbles and the incredible strength and flexibility of spider webs.
