…HDS trend forecast winter 13_14: save the date: september 2012 during the ILM fair

the pre colour meeting for the HDS national association of footwear and leather goods industry took place last week….it was a very positive color meeting: expect MORE than only black and dark shades for the winterseason 13_14. next guru now

…lineapelle bologna_highlights and impressions

the summer 13 lineapelle edition in bologna was very positive….and highly inspiring, even in a time of rising raw hide prices. as we did a research for clients on the fair, we can`t publish a full report here. but as usual we would like to share some ideas and innovation news from the fair.

in general it was visible that italy had a very tough winter season in the retail business. as in all european fashion centers, also in bologna and verona the high streets are more and more the same: same brands, similar products….concerning trend spotting you have to invest some extra time to find the „hidden gems“. two examples are the amazing stores MACONDO and the amazing new concept store WOODEN ( via fama 15) both in the back streets of verona.

especially the WOODEN store offers a great japanese meets italian craftsmen-ship orientated selection of up and coming brands plus a in house collection. great and friendly guys with a sense for minimalism and style without chichi !!! check them out on facebook: WOODEN

…KUALA LUMPUR_SINGAPORE_fashion highlights

kuala lumpur and singapore proofed one more time that not only tokyo and seoul are the main fashion capitals in asia.the styling on the streets was highly creative….the most powerful trend will be the combination of traditional (ethnic) fabrics with modern fabrics and styling. goth and dark wave styling is still very strong, but the 60`s and early 70`s are increasing trends. local brands like PHILOSOPHY are gaining more and more importance…..the best malls to check out local brands and talent are: sungei wang plaza mall and fahrenheit 88…both located close to BB plaza.

SINGAPORE_KUALA LUMPUR research

as you have noticed the blog was a bit quiet..as i was travelling kuala lumpur and malaysia and singapore for 15 days. it was an extremely inspirational trip….and all the meetings with the fashion scene in KL worked out brilliant. one of the guys who made the meetings possible is the one and only AYIE_haswari ali (ayie ali)…fashion editor and the creative brain behind the most successful malayan entertainment and fashion web site murai.com.AYIE….is not only the most famous online fashion editor of malaysia..he is also an fabric expert, from batik to ikat he has the over knowledge about the traditional and modern craft scene in malaysia. in his column DETECTIF STAILISTA he writes about the most important V.I.P´s and actors, the happening singer and celebrities….up to fashion news from the royal family….ayie has the talent and the power and is for sure THE rising star as malaysians number one lifetyle editor. he has the rare ability to report about fashion critically with a human sense of humour !! if you ever have to work one a fashion subject in malaysia…..i would more than recommend ayie and his team. a warm and big thank you goes out to his awesome fashion colleague KIMMY…..who is a „mall“ expert…and helped me a lot to find the sometimes hidden trend treasures and fashion hotspot’s in KL…..

we researched the newest trend directions for surfaces and finishing during the first global leather and synthetic fabric fair trend selection new york city . it was surprising how fresh and vibrant the new leather looked…innovative, powerful…between dramatic history..and clean minimal and high tech treatments.
