gravity stool_concept_ winner of the german design award @ DMY

the dmy international design festival was once again amazing: here is my personal highlight and winners of the festival price. with more than 35700 visitors, the 10th edition of the dmy festival as well as the exhibition of the german design award »designpreis der bundesrepublik deutschland« have been a great success.

„gravity stool“ by jólan van der wiel (the netherlands) was one of the 3 winning concepts_magnetic fields in the machine, in opposition to one another, determines the final shape of the gravity stool:

departing from the idea that everything is necessarily influenced by gravity, a force that exerts a powerful shaping effect, jólan van der wiel intended to manipulate this natural phenomenon by exploiting the force underlying its own power: magnetism. the positioning of the magnetic fields in the machine, in opposition to one another, determines the final shape of the gravity stool. jólan’s products are characterized by their freakish and organic shapes, forms that are in fact so typical of nature itself.
